Kura Tātai is a one-day immersive workshop designed for those ready to explore and document their whakapapa. Whether you're beginning your journey or looking to deepen existing knowledge, this wānanga provides practical tools to help you access historical records, engage with kaumātua, and organise your genealogical findings in a meaningful way.

Kura Tātai gives you the the tools, techniques and pathways to research and build your whakapapa to share with future generations.

  • Kura Tātai is a one-day workshop designed for anyone passionate about uncovering their whakapapa and learning the tools and tactics to begin to build their whānau journey for future generations.

  • Registrations are open to: 

    Anyone who is passionate about investigating and documenting their whakapapa. Whether for your whānau, iwi or marae.

  • Clicking on the ‘Secure your Spot’ button.

    Due to limited space of participants, on receipt Kura Tātai will confirm your enrolment. If we exceed the amount of spaces and we are able to keep your information for our records if any spaces become available, and for any similar kaupapa offered by Kura Tātai.

  • The cost for the one-day workshop is $490 (excl GST) for individuals.

    This includes:

    • Food throughout the day

    • An immersive and interactive one day workshop with Tikanga and Māori language and culture revitalisation expert Dr. Jeremy Tātere MacLeod

    • Learning resources and a take-away workbook to refer back to anytime

    • Access to Kauwaka’s learning community platform on Mighty Networks

  • Beginner or advanced knowledge around language and whakapapa.

    This one-day workshop has been designed for every level of Māori knowledge. It’s for those who want to deepen their whakapapa knowledge or build on any existing information.

  • Knowlege and Insights: Dr. Jeremy Tātere MacLeod will guide you best practice, and provide expert knowledge around who, where and how to access what you need to start or develop your whakapapa journey.

    Interactive activities, including sharing research & preservation strategies.

    Q and A reflections share your thoughts, ideas and ask any burning questions to cement your learning.

  • Kura Tātai is fortunate to draw on the expertise of key te reo Māori champion tikanga expert and educator an Dr. Jeremy Tātere MacLeod. The programme is being delivered by Kauwaka Ltd.
