  • “Kauwaka Ltd is an invaluable partner in strengthening our mātauranga Māori capability and confidence. Their amazing expertise, solid reputation, guidance, and unwavering support and patience have enriched us an organisation ensuring that our approach to all things mātauranga Māori is underpinned by our own uara of tika, pono and aroha. It has enriched our organisation here at Skills Active Te Mahi Ako ensuring our approach to ākonga and te ao Māori is both tika/authentic, helpful and impactful. We are extremely thankful for Kauwaka’s dedication, positive vibrations, their strong support networks in both te ao Māori and te ao Pākēhā that they openly share with and support us with.”

SKILLS ACTIVE AOTEAROA | TE MAHI AKO

  • "We at Oranga Tamariki in the East Coast developed a Kaimahi Māori Network Strategy, which had a large focus on Te Reo Māori and Tikanga to build cultural competency and capability. We engaged with Kauwaka and they were able to provide different reo programmes to cater to all levels of our kaimahi. They also provided a tailored tikanga wānanga based on kaupapa directly related to our mahi. We highly recommend Kauwaka, they were able to work in with our busy schedule and provided an online Learning Management System full of resources for us to utilise."

MARCUS MATENA, SENIOR MĀORI PRACTICE ADVISOR - ORANGA TAMARIKI

  • "Our full marae board were greatful to be able to spend the day with the team at Kauwaka with the launch of their new Kura Kainga workshop. It was great to have a tailored Marae Governance-focused workshop that is relatable to the challenges we face ,but also to remind us to not think little and tackle the hard stuff asap. Communicate and compromise and get the mahi done. We have a lot of upcoming mahi navigating the rebuild and relocation of our marae after Cyclone Gabriel classed our whenua reservation and urupa into Category 3. Today reinforced our focus and also strengthened the path we need to continue to lead our hapu on. Never lose sight of the vision. Take our people on the journey."

SHYANN RAIHANIA - DIRECTOR, COMMUNITY & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • “I signed up for this workshop the day I found it online. After 20yrs aboard I’ve come home to discover & embrace my whakapapa. My pāpā & his parents rest in a Ngāpuhi urapa. Just from the information on their headstones an awful lot can be gleaned online!! And an awful lot of time can be spent going around in circles. Kura Tātai presents resources that everyone can access to build a better understanding of their whakapapa. Jeremy is very familiar with the online resources available, which are presented in the workshop & shares his own profound knowledge & experience, so you can’t go wrong."
